baby boy for the Redknapps - 28 July 2004
Louise
Redknapp gave birth to a baby boy yesterday. Named Charlie after
his grandfather and weighing in at 6lb 6oz, he is the first child
for Louise and husband Jamie. Delivered by Caesarean section, the
couple described little Charlie as 'perfect', adding that 'this
is an amazing day'. Louise became pregnant after four years of trying
and beating endometriosis.

joy for Melanie Sykes - 27 July 2004
Presenter Melanie Sykes has given birth to a baby boy, Valentino
Luca, who weighed in at 7lb 9oz at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington,
west London. Valentino is the second child for Melanie and her husband,
actor Daniel Caltagirone who already have a two-year-old son, Roman.
Mel said 'Daniel and I are over the moon and Roman is thrilled to
have a little brother to play with'.

Atomic Kitten star Natasha Hamilton is expecting her first baby
with current beau Gavin Hatcher. The Sun says the baby is due in
January. Hamilton already has a two-year-old son Josh by ex-boyfriend

Radio 1 presenter Sara Cox and Friends star Courtney Cox both gave
birth this weekend.
Sara and her dance DJ husband Jon Carter celebrated the arrival
of 7lb 11oz Lola Anne Carter at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth
in north London.
Across the Atlantic, Coco Arquette was born to Courtney Cox and
her husband, David Arquette.

Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow has given birth to her first child,
a girl named Apple Blythe Alison Martin, weighing 9lb, 11oz. Gwyneth
and her husband Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay, said they
were "ecstatic" after the baby was delivered at a London
hospital on Friday. In a statement released by their spokesman,
they said 'We are 900 miles over the moon'.

tough guy actor Russell Crowe and his wife are celebrating the birth
of their first child. Crowe's wife, Home and Away star Danielle
Spencer, gave birth to a 6lb 2oz boy last night. The child has been
named Charles Spencer Crowe.

girl and TV presenter Melinda Messenger, 32, has become a mother
for the third time after giving birth to her first daughter. The
baby, named Evie, was born almost a fortnight early and weighed
in at 6lb 7oz. She and husband Wayne have sons Morgan, who is three
and a half, and Flynn, who will be two in February. A spokeswoman
for the star said: "The birth was without complications apart
from Wayne nearly fainting." Typical!

Heidi Klum is expecting a baby with Formula One boss Flavio Briatore.
Poster girl Heidi, 30, and father figure Flavio, 53, have been dating
for the past year. A statement issued on behalf of the couple said:
"Heidi Klum and Italian businessman Flavio Briatore are happy
to announce they are expecting a child in the spring." Let's
hope baby takes after mummy in the looks department!

BBC Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox has announced on air that she is three months
pregnant. The 28-year-old told listeners that she was "really
excited" about the baby, her first child with husband, club
DJ Jon Carter, 33. At least the breakfast show host is used to getting
up early!

Ellis Bextor is expecting her first baby. The singer is three months
pregnant by new boyfriend Richard Jones, just four months after
splitting from her manager and boyfriend of six years Andy Boyd.
A happy Sophie said: "I've always wanted to be a mum and Richard
and I are really excited. We're looking forward to starting a family."
The pair met backstage on Jonathan Ross's TV show and now live in
her £400,000 home in London's Notting Hill.

for the actress said the pair were very pleased, adding that the
baby is due next summer. Gwyneth and Coldplay singer Chris have

the clean-living pair have remained resolutely tight-lipped when
asked about their relationship. Even Gwyneth's spokesman Stephen
Huvane is keeping schtum - he declined to say whether the couple

Fly - is expecting twins. Geena's publicist told reporters that
she is healthy and looking forward to the birth next spring. The

have a daughter, Alizeh, who was born in April last year.

Trinny Woodall - one half of BBC's What Not To Wear team - is celebrating
the birth of her first child. Trinny, 39, and hubbie Jonny Elichaoff
have named their daughter Lila and they couldn't be happier. Trinny
said: "I'm so happy, I can't tell you how overjoyed I am."
The couple previously suffered years of baby heartbreak; Trinny
suffered nine failed attempts at IVF and two miscarriages before
falling pregnant last year. In a happy coincidence, Trinny's on-screen
partner in style Susannah Constantine, 41, gave birth to her third
child last month - daughter Cece. And the award for this year's

Unborn babies can listen to mum - June 13 2003
A new study has shown that foetuses can hear and get
used to their mother's voices whilst still in the womb. Doctors
conducted tests in which they played a recording of a short poem
to the pregnant woman's stomache. The babies' heart rates were monitered
and it was observed that the babies' heart rates increased when
they heard their mother's voice, compared with another woman's voice.

Agency say that women who are pregnant, breast-feeding or trying
to conceive should not eat large amounts of tuna. The levels of
mercury in tuna may be high enough to harm the nervous systems of

Researchers have proved that it's good to keep children talking.
It is an important step in their development of communicative skills.
The research is supported and promoted by the charity I Can. Their
aim is to help children with communication problems develop better
skills. They have created the aptly names Chatterbox Challenge,
which encourages children to memorise and recite their favourite
nursery rhymes and stories to keep them talking. This will improve
and strengthen the skills that are in the process of developing.
The challenge is being backed by newsreader, Michael Beurk and Ab

Are parent and baby nighttime interactions related to cot death?

Recently the University of Bristol and the United Bristol NHS
began a research project labelled SWISS (the South West Infant Sleep
Scene). The objective is to find out if parent and baby interactions
at night are related to cot death risk factors. They want to study
normal growth and development of an infant to see how these interactions
affect this. They hope it will give insight to the risks and reasons
around cot death and will also provide tips on how to better care
for your baby.
